April 11, 20252 mins read

Our portfolio company, Mediatech, a global digital media leader, is investing in 15min group, one of the biggest media household names in Lithuania.

Launched in 2019, Mediatech has become a global leader and home to a number of international media projects, the most well-known of which is Cybernews — a platform delivering expert insights on cybersecurity, privacy, and crypto trends, and competing with major outlets like CNET, TechRadar, and Seeking Alpha. In 2024 alone, Mediatech’s platforms attracted over 100 million readers and viewers worldwide, cementing its place alongside digital media giants such as Forbes and PCMag.

Mediatech is turning its sights on bringing media innovation closer to home

While its primary markets include the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, and France, the company is now shifting focus to bring its global expertise closer to home — aiming to drive innovation and help build sustainable, independent media in Lithuania.

15min group has built a strong and diverse media portfolio, home to some of the country’s most respected outlets, outlets, magazines, radio stations, and agencies. Its flagship news portal, 15min.lt, is known for its investigative journalism and reaches over 1 million unique users each month.

“This partnership is a proud moment for us,” said Dainius Vanagas, CEO of Mediatech. “It’s an opportunity to bring our international know-how to a trusted local brand and contribute to building a stronger, more resilient media landscape in Lithuania. Together with the talented teams at 4 Bees and the 15min group, we see incredible potential to innovate, diversify revenue streams, and set a new standard for independent journalism in the region.”

Vanagas also highlighted the strategic value of the collaboration: “We know from experience that diverse monetization models are key to maintaining high editorial standards. This partnership will allow us to co-create technology-driven, sustainable media grounded in global best practices and local insight.”

Tomas Balžekas, CEO of 15min group, expressed confidence in the partnership: “Welcoming Mediatech as a shareholder is a major step toward our goal of becoming the leading media group in Lithuania. Their deep digital expertise, aligned values, and global perspective will help us grow faster and more sustainably while staying true to our mission: an informed, critically thinking, and evolving society.”

As part of Tesonet, Mediatech reflects our mission to grow digital ideas that succeed globally and make a real impact locally.
